San Francisco – Several facilities at Lake Mendocino have been closed until further notice due to high water and related damage caused by winter storms.

Area closures include the South Boat Ramp, the Bushay Campground, lower Kyen Campground “C” loop, as well as the Pomo C, Joe Riley and Oak Grove day use areas.

The North Boat Ramp, upper Kyen Campground (sites 1-72), dam and day use areas, including Pomo A, Pomo B and the Overlook, remain open for public recreation and enjoyment.

Lake Mendocino, formed with the construction of the Coyote Valley Dam in 1958, is the largest reservoir in Mendocino County. The lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide flood risk reduction, water resource management and recreational opportunities to improve the quality of life for the public.
