Lake Mendocino Rangers Celebrate Mother's Day

UKIAH, CALIF. –From new blooms to nesting shorebirds to flocks of goslings waddling after mother geese into new waters, the month of May offers glimpses of Mother Nature’s moms in action at Lake Mendocino. To celebrate this season of nature, the park rangers at Lake Mendocino will be hosting a day to honor the mothers in our lives with a Love Your Mother event at the Overlook Day Use Area on Saturday, May 11th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.   Those attending will be able to interact with park rangers and watch the rehabilitation of a native plant garden.  Children can participate in decorating flower pots for their mothers.

Lake Mendocino, formed with the construction of the Coyote Valley Dam in 1958, is the largest reservoir in Mendocino County. The lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide flood risk reduction, water resource management and recreational opportunities to improve the quality of life for the public.
