The Federal Highway Administration has applied to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, San Francisco District, for a Department of the Army Permit to discharge fill material into jurisdictional waters of the United States associated with the construction of roadway improvements to State Route (SR) 36. The FHA, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service and the California Department of Transportation, has applied for a five-year Department of Army permit to complete roadway improvements to SR 36 between postmiles 36.1 and 40.5 to enhance traffic safety, while improving mobility for vehicular travel along SR 36.
