Project location and description 

Thompson Creek is located in Santa Clara County, approximately 30 miles south of San Francisco, California. The project focuses on approximately one mile of aquatic restoration along the riparian corridor of the Thompson Creek from Quimbly Road to Aborn Road.  The project boundaries lie east of Highway 101 and Southeast of Highway 680, in the Coyote Creek Watershed.

  • Secured contract for channel modeling.

FY 14 accomplishments

  • Complete PMP Update.
  • Initiate the Without Project Conditions study, including environmental, archeological/SHPO (State Historical Preservation Office) document review.
  • Initiate Draft Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Issues and other information

  • The Non-Federal Sponsor (NFS) is the Santa Clara Valley Water District..
  • This project did not receive funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), Title IV, Pub. L. No. 111-5, 123 Stat. 115, Feb. 17, 2009.
  • When first proposed in FY 02, the project was called the Santa Clara Valley Aquatic Restoration, Section 206. It was decided the proposed project was overly broad for Section 206 Authority. In FY 03 the local sponsor agreed to narrow the focus of the project to aquatic restoration in Thompson Creek.
