Wildcat & San Pablo Creeks

WILDCAT AND SAN PABLO CREEKS
INVESTIGATIONS

PROJECT LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION

The study area is located 14 miles northeast of San Francisco, California along southeastern San Pablo Bay in the northwest portion of Contra Costa County. Wildcat and San Pablo Creeks are adjoining drainage basins lying northeast of Berkeley in the Berkeley Hills-San Pablo Ridge area. An authorized flood-control project, The Wildcat/San Pablo Creeks Phase I Project, was completed in 1995. Phase II, which is located within the City of San Pablo, was not constructed at that time because of concerns about economic justification. Updated flow volume and frequency projections, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) floodplain maps, and a reconnaissance study completed in 2005 indicate that Phase II is now economically justified.
