OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

PROJECT LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION

Bodega Bay which is located on the California Coast 60 miles north of San Francisco is a shallow draft, critical harbor of refuge that supports a Coast Guard search-and-rescue station, commercial and sport fishing, and recreational craft. The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) schedule provides for periodic inspection and repair of three breakwaters and infrequent (11-year cycle) maintenance dredging of the Federal Channel (including three turning basins) to a depth of 12 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW).

  • Perform periodic hydrographic surveys to monitor channel shoaling and inspect jetties to assess structural conditions, pending availability of funds.

  • Sonoma County is the Non-Federal Sponsor (NFS).
  • This project did not receive funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), Title IV, Pub. L. No. 111-5, 123 Stat. 115, Feb. 17, 2009.
  • The last dredging episode (FY 04-05) included work-for-others dredging of the US Coast Guard Station berthing areas.
