Lt. Col. Timothy W. Shebesta, a native of Antioch, IL, commissioned into the U.S. Army on Dec. 17, 2006, as an Engineer Officer after graduation from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He has also holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Minnesota. Additionally, he is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Project Management Professional certification.  Lt. Col. Shebesta is currently in his 17th year of Army service. 

Lt. Col. Shebesta’s Army service first began in Mosul, Iraq, in the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division, as a Provincial Police Training Team Chief.  After re-deployment, his Brigade transitioned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, where he served as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Operations Officer during training in El Paso, TX, and a deployment to Amarah, Iraq.  He then commanded the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, during a deployment to Taji, Iraq. Following that re-deployment, Lt Col. Shebesta entered a USACE assignment as an Area Engineer in the New York District.  He completed his time as Captain as an OC/T Team Chief and Operations Officer in 181st Multi-Functional Training Brigade, First Army, at Fort McCoy, WI. As a Major, he served as the Current Operations Integration Cell Officer, in U.S. Army South, and become the Headquarter and Headquarters Battalion’s Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Prior to his current role as a USACE Commander, Lt. Col. Shebesta served as the Professor of Military Science for the Army ROTC program at his alma mater, Marquette University.

Lt. Col. Shebesta is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captain’s Career Course, Command and General Staff Officers Course, Joint Engineer Operations Course, Airborne School, the First Army OC/T Academy, and the Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award); Army Commendation Medal (5th Award); Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award); National Defense Service Medal; Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars); Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Armed Forces Service Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; Combat Action Badge; Parachutist Badge; German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge; Meritorious Unit Citation.
