Fattened vultures wait along Lake Mendocino shoreline Saturday after dining on carp carcasses for more than a week. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials estimate between 5,000 to 10,000 carp have died at Lake Mendocino in the past week. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife and University of California at Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital are testing water and fish samples to find the root cause of the fish deaths.
