WILDCAT CREEK RESTORATION PROJECT, CALIFORNIA
CONTINUING AUTHORITY, SECTION 1135

PROJECT LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION

The study area is located in North Richmond, CA, which is 15 miles northeast of the city of San Francisco, CA. North Richmond is an unincorporated area in the northwest portion of Contra Costa County, CA. The Corps’ original flood risk reduction project was completed in 1992 and was designed to a 1% annual chance of exceedance (ACE). Currently a Continuing Authorities Program (CAP) 1135 feasibility study is evaluating alternatives that will provide improved fish passage and improved riparian and in stream habitat while maintain the design level of flood risk reduction afforded by the original project. A significant study goal is reducing migration barriers for steelhead trout, a member of the Central Coast Environmentally Significant Unit in the San Francisco Bay region, and improving riparian habitat. The feasibility study will evaluate alternatives that will provide improved fish passage, improved riparian and in stream habitat, while maintaining the design level of flood risk reduction.
