City of Santa Cruz, Sea Level Rise Adaptation Planning

FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT SERVICES (516965)

PROJECT LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION

The City of Santa Cruz and its partners are in the process of assessing the feasibility of living shorelines, nature-based solutions, and sand management techniques for the protection of approximately 3 miles of Santa Cruz coastline.  While there has been deep engagement with areas of the community that have been directly impacted by recent storm events, other sectors of the community have less visibility on the effort. Prior to investing significant resources in adaptation strategies, the City of Santa Cruz has requested Silver Jackets support for outreach and engagement for adaptation with the whole community, specifically focused on traditionally underserved areas of the community, to enable meaningful participation in decision making processes.
