PROJECT LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION

The study area is located San Jose in and around the Rock Springs neighborhood. The general description of flooding is over bank flooding from Coyote Creek with the neighborhoods filling with floodwaters, inundating structures. The problems and opportunities that have been identified are: (1) The Coyote Creek at Rock Springs study area suffers from problems associated with fluvial flooding due to over bank flooding from Coyote Creek; and (2) There are opportunities to reduce flooding and associated urban property damage within the area.

  • Establish a Project Management Plan (PMP) and a Federal Cost Sharing Agreement (FCSA).
  • Initiate Feasibility Study

  • Hold Tentatively Selected Plan Milestone Conference

ISSUES AND OTHER INFORMATION

  • The Santa Clara Valley Water District is the Non-Federal Sponsor (NFS).
  • The NFS is concerned that the relative difficulty in receiving new start authorization will prevent substantive progress and are opting to pursue A Section 1126 MOA while they are competing for new start approval.
