INVESTIGATIONS
PROJECT LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
The San Pablo Bay Watershed is the northern reach of the San Francisco Estuary, an area where the population is projected to increase by two million people during the next three decades. The San Pablo Bay Watershed Study addresses near-, mid-, and long-term restoration in the area. The diversity in the watershed is unique with national significance and wetland restoration therein could increase the wetland area in California by as much as 5%. The San Pablo Bay Watershed Restoration and Suisun Marsh Ecosystem Restoration provide technical, planning, design and construction assistance for restoration and restoration parameters, goals, and objectives, and to identify and prioritize future restoration opportunities. These efforts support construction of replacement wetlands, protection from additional pollution, and creation of habitats to increase the biodiversity and habitat values in the watershed.

ISSUES AND OTHER INFORMATION
- The California State Coastal Conservancy is the Non-Federal Sponsor (NFS) for the project.
- WRDA 2007, Section 5053 expands the Corps’ authority (from WRDA 1996) to implement technical, plan, design, and construction support to our regional partners. This increases the Corps’ budget authority to $40M.
