PLANNING ASSISTANCE TO STATES
PROJECT LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
The Lower Klamath Watershed Assessment Planning Assistance to States (PAS) project is located along the lower Klamath River between Weitchpec and the river’s confluence with the Pacific Ocean. This project is an effort in collaboration with the Tribe, USACE and the USGS to: (1) formally document the Tribe’s watershed stewardship and management priorities; (2) collect surface water data and updated hydrology on priority Klamath tributary streams that will inform watershed management decisions related to water availability on Yurok lands; and (3) provide hydraulic modeling data to forecast future surface water conditions and water availability. This project is intended to support the exchange of tools, tribal-ecological knowledge, and USACE engineering expertise to further tribal resilience, advance tribal self-determination, and affirm sovereignty in the protection of the Klamath River watershed.
