 Coastal Cleanup

On the third Saturday of every September volunteers all over the world converge on beaches, shorelines and inland waterways to pick up trash and remove dangerous debris. Considered the largest marine-related volunteer event in the world, Coastal Cleanup Day is a wonderful opportunity to lend a hand and make a significant difference.

The Sausalito Lions Club and Friends of the Bay Model provide a free, “Thank You” BBQ for all participating volunteers following the cleanup at the Bay Model Visitor Center in Sausalito.

Over 35 clean-up sites in Marin County are in need of volunteer assistance each year, so if you or anyone you know is interested, please contact Tammi Skalitzky at (415) 289-3027 or send an email to

 Sausalito Art Fair

Every Labor Day weekend, stars of the contemporary art scene are showcased on the sparkling bay shores of Sausalito, California's Mediterranean-like seaside village. Over one-million visitors from throughout the world have experienced the Sausalito Art Festival since its inaugural event in 1952. Sausalito hosts the West Coast's ultimate Art Experience, featuring a world-class collection of fine art and craft.

The Bay Model Visitor Center needs volunteer assistance during this Labor Day Weekend event. Volunteers opportunities include staffing the Bay Model bookstore, assisting visitors with questions about the facility and the Art Festival, monitoring activity on the model and gallery area, and assisting in the children's area.

If you would like to volunteer at the Bay Model during the Art Festival, please call Tammi Skalitzky at (415) 289-3027 or send an email to
