Coastal Cleanup Day:
On the third Saturday of every September volunteers all over the world converge on beaches, shorelines and inland waterways to pick up trash and remove dangerous debris. Considered the largest marine-related volunteer event in the world, Coastal Cleanup Day is a wonderful opportunity to lend a hand and make a significant difference. The Sausalito Lions Club and Friends of the Bay Model provide a free, “Thank You” BBQ for all participating volunteers following the cleanup at the Bay Model Visitor Center in Sausalito.
Over 35 clean-up sites in Marin County are in need of volunteer assistance each year, so if you or anyone you know is interested, please contact Joanne Jarvis at (415) 289-3027 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Sausalito Art Festival:
Over Labor Day weekend, be part of the largest festival in the Bay Area when
the Bay Model Visitor Center hosts the Sausalito Art Festival! Volunteer opportunities include staffing the Bay Model bookstore, assisting visitors
with questions about the facility and the Art Festival, monitoring activity of the Model and gallery area, and assisting in the children's area. All volunteers receive free admission to the Festival, and a free Festival t-shirt. Shifts are from 10 am-1pm, 1-4 pm, and 3-6 pm on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, September 3-5, 2011.
If interested, please contact Tammi Skalitzky at (415) 289-3007 or Tammi.M.Skalitzky@usace.army.mil
