SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a Change of Command ceremony June 30 at 10 a.m. at the Bay Model Visitor Center at 2100 Bridgeway, Sausalito, Calif.

At the ceremony, LTC John C. Morrow will transfer command to LTC Travis J. Rayfield after serving as the district’s 54th Commander and District Engineer since 2014.

The San Francisco District has served the Bay Area since 1866, providing support for 22 federal shipping channels and the region’s $68 billion annual maritime industry, and is the federal agency responsible for keeping the Bay’s navigation channels free of debris.  Its largely civilian workforce also operates two major dams that provide drinking water, recreation and mitigation against the risk of flooding, while overseeing the largest wetland restoration projects on the West Coast.

The change of command ceremony is open to the public and press.   The venue will be open for crews to set up starting at 8 a.m.
