    Army Corps of Engineers announces proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it has prepared its proposal to renew and revise 56 of 57 existing nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. USACE will propose not to reissue one nationwide permit authorizing activities associated with finfish mariculture. USACE will also propose to issue one new nationwide permit that pertains to authorizing activities to facilitate fish passage.     Spencer Harper, a coastal engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) San Francisco District, reached the halfway mark in his research project with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) six-month detail program known as ERDC University, or ERDC-U.

    COVID 19: San Francisco District to open public boat ramp at Lake Sonoma May 16

    In accordance with a May 12, 2020 update to the Sonoma County Health Order, Lake Sonoma will start opening parts of the park for public use. The plan is to open the Public Boat Ramp and Marina for lake surface use on Saturday, May 16, 9 AM. The Visitor Center Parking lot will be open for vessel inspections only. At this time, all other recreation areas will remain closed.

    Veterans tour SF Bay Area onboard USACE vessel

    A group of 25 disabled veterans, family members, friends and caregivers boarded the M/V John A. B. Dillard, Jr., May 25 for a tour of such Bay Area landmarks as the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz and concluding at AT&T Park for a Giants-Padres baseball game. The veterans are residents at the Veterans Community Services Living and Resource Rehabilitaion Center in Martinez, Calif.
