San Francisco District’s Bijan Nooranbakht, acting chief of the Readiness Branch, and the crew of the command vessel the M/V John A. B. Dillard, Jr., represented the district during the Port of San Francisco’s Defense Support of Civilian Authorities Tabletop Exercise at Pier 1 in San Francisco, Nov. 18.

“Being prepared to respond in an emergency is a high priority for the Port of San Francisco. The Port recognizes that resuming operations as quickly as possible, especially our ferry passenger, cargo and rail facilities – is critical to the City’s recovery efforts. To that end, we train and exercise with other City departments, as well as local, state, federal and industry partners,” said Monique Moyer, Executive Director, Port of San Francisco.

The exercise allowed the San Francisco District, civilian first responders and emergency management officials the opportunity to train with military units tasked with providing aid and relief during a catastrophic event.
